Young Thug has issued an apology to his girlfriend, Mariah The Scientist, after a leaked audio recording revealed a past infidelity. The Atlanta rapper was jailed from May 9, 2022, through October 31, 2024, and in the past week, several of his alleged phone conversations have been released to the public through social media.
While some questioned and denied the authenticity of some of the conversations, direct apologies for his actions seemingly confirm the validity of the private chats.
In one phone call, the “Bad, Bad, Bad” rapper revealed that he had cheated on the rising R&B singer and lied to her bout it. According to Hollywood Unlocked, on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 6), a conversation was leaked where he admitted, “One of my little h*es—one of my little girls—she posting stuff on the internet at my condo from a long time ago.”
He continued to detail how he confessed to the “Burning Blue” singer that the interaction was years old; however, it actually occured days before his initial lockup.
“Wasn’t a minute ago, it was the day before I got locked up, man… Whatever happened wasn’t even a month, like 18 days or something like that. Whatever, I ain’t doing it with her. So whoopty doo,” he explained.
An additional call between Thugger and a woman who was not Mariah The Scientist revealed him declaring his love and planning to have children with the mystery lady, according to the blog.
“I love you,” he shared with her, responding, “I love you more.”
Thug also admitted to being intimate with a correctional officer while locked up.
After the calls were shared and spread across social media, the 34-year-old hopped on X to publicly apologize to Mariah The Scientist.
“My baby I was wrong and I’m sorry for what I put u through,” pleaded Young Thug.
“U deserved better from me. Thank you for everything and I will do anything to make this work. U showed me what love is and I hope I haven’t lost u forever… everybody leave her out of this please she’s an innocent girl and feels bad about all of this. Please give her peace.”
The 27-year-old seemingly responded to the chaos with her own lyrics. On her Instagram account, she shared the words to her song “Rainy Days.” In the song, she reflects on an unsavory relationship.
“Tell me love and hatred doesn’t co-exist / Surely I reply that’s why we’re sending this / I was naive, not ignorant / So much my innocence now / Love me, leave me, let me down,” the lyrics read.
“I’ve put forth an open heart and I’ve been hurt / Looking back in retrospect, that ain’t what I deserve / Holding back in blood in blood, I’m gone again / And still I pray for love instead of common sense.”
Gossip regarding leaked conversations even plagued the couple’s relationship while Young Thug was still in jail. An in-person visit with the singer was leaked on social media in January 2024 where the pair shared an intimate moment through a plastic divider.
Last March, Mariah The Scientist allegedly came to blows with Young Thug’s former lover, Cleopatra Dues, at an Atlanta lounge. The R&B singer was arrested and booked for the altercation after Dues claimed Mariah attacked her “for no apparent reason.”
