Young Thug has been the topic of conversation for almost the last week after his interrogation and phone calls from jail were leaked online. Among the many people he discussed, two major conversations centered around him buying fake streams for Gunna and his belief that Gucci Mane turned “soft” after getting out of jail.
In one phone call, King Slime discussed how Wunna was allegedly seeking a $20 million deal, which Thug was willing to provide because of their relationship. “He demanded he want 20 million. So I told him, like, ‘Whatever you want, I’m going to give it to you, the money, whatever you want,’” he said. “Just on some we [brothers] sh*t.” However, he also believed that nobody else would be willing to pay the “Fukumean” rapper that kind of money.
“Like, I know you can’t go nowhere in this world and get no $20 million check from no label,” he added. “You’re not doing numbers like that. You all right, but you ain’t doing it like that. Like, the number one album you just had right now, I paid for you to have the number one album. You didn’t honestly earn a number one album over The Weeknd, my boy. I paid for that sh*t. Never said anything to him. I never told him that […] I spent 50 extra grand […] buying streams for you.”
Gunna surprised the world in January 2022 when his third studio album, DS4EVER, beat out The Weeknd’s Dawn FM for the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200. At the time, it was a sign that Thug and YSL had a real star on the horizon. However, now his achievement is mired in controversy, on top of their seemingly strained relationship due to the YSL RICO case and the belief that the Atlanta rapper snitched on his mentor.
The “Money On Money” rapper has also been at odds with Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas. In another leaked phone call, he discussed P’s previous snitching allegations and how Guwop handled him. “P used to be signed to Gucci Mane,” Thug said, revealing that P wanted to be a rapper at one point.
“When Gucci Mane found out that sh*t, he dropped the ni**a. ‘Cause P used to try to rap. Guwop ended up going to jail. I guess he just goddamn turned soft, started fu**ing with that ni**a.” This is unexpected energy, given the fact that Thugger happily joined Gucci on “Guwop Home” in 2016 after the latter was released from jail. The Atlanta legend returned that energy in 2022, calling for Thug to be released from jail on “All Dz Chainz” with Lil Baby.
Thug also discussed Migos, Drake, and Metro Boomin on these jail calls, but none of those rap stars have responded to the comments about them yet. In less than a year, Jeffery’s release from jail went from a happy moment in Hip-Hop to controversial and damaging; the worst part is that fans are still waiting on his forthcoming album, UY Scuti.
