Jessica Day is here to stay!
Although Zooey Deschanel concluded her role as the upbeat teacher when New Girl aired its final season in 2018, she’s making it clear that she hasn’t ditched the acclaimed character’s iconic style.
During a red carpet appearance for the premiere of Spinal Tap II: The End Continues at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood on September 9, 2025 in Los Angeles, California,Deschanel, 45, channeled her inner Jessica “Jess” Day with a cute and chic look.
The actress—who was joined by her fiancé Jonathan Scott—rocked a collared black and white mini dress with a 1950s-esque vintage flair. The piece also included four buttons at the top and short, lightly puffed sleeves.
She paired the fashionable dress with a black handbag, sheer tights with an intricate design, and an adorable pair of black heels featuring straps, buckles, and bows.
Deschanel finished off the look with multiple rings and classic hoop earrings.
The outfit was on point for Jess, as the character is known for her cute, vintage-inspired, uber-feminine wardrobe.
In a March 2012 red carpet interview with Whitney English from SheKnows, Deschanel opened up about the quirky lead’s style.
When English credited Jess for bringing back the “geek is chic” trend, the Los Angeles native said, “It’s partly like Jess’s attitude, you know, she’s awkward.”
The Elf star then joked, “And then, you know, she wears glasses, so that’s geeky, I guess.”
