TRI-CITIES, Tenn./Va. (WJHL) — A First Responder Cookoff in Mountain City, a mountain music celebration in Johnson County and more are taking place this weekend throughout the Tri-Cities.

Long Journey Home ‘Mountain Music’ Celebration
A festival featuring traditional music that became country music. A musical heritage tour, old-time gospel singing and more will take place throughout the weekend-long event.
Jackson Theatre 80th Anniversary
Live music and classical movie showings to celebrate the Jackson Theatre’s 80th anniversary.
Elk Mills/Poga VFD’s 2nd Annual First Responder Rib Cookoff
Live music, games, a silent auction, raffles and vendors will be offered. The event is open to the public. Proceeds go towards the rebuild of the Elk Mills-Poga VFD station that was lost during Hurricane Helene.
Graveyard Tales
Spooky stories of local legends, creepy creatures and lore.

Papa Joe Smiddy Mountain Music Festival
Music festival honoring Dr. Joseph “Papa Joe” Smiddy featuring bluegrass music. Food and craft vendors will be on-site. Admission is free with $5 parking.
