Nina Dobrev and Shaun White have officially called it quits.
On Sept. 11, a source revealed to People that the “The Vampire Diaries” actress and the former snowboarder and skateboarder have ended their engagement and broken up after five years together.
“It was a mutual decision, and wasn’t an easy one, but it was made with love and a deep respect for one another,” the source told the outlet.
Their breakup news comes less than two weeks after they were last spotted together holding hands in Los Angeles while running errands on Aug. 31.
However, on Sept. 7, Dobrev appeared on the red carpet for the “Eternity” premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, and her engagement ring was nowhere to be seen.
Dobrev, 36, and White, 39, first sparked romance rumors in late 2019 and moved in together at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their first Instagram photo together showed Dobrev giving White a haircut in quarantine in May 2020.
Throughout the years, the couple made many red carpet appearances together at various Hollywood events. Dobrev was also by White’s side during his fifth and final Winter Olympics in Beijing in 2022.
In October 2024, Dobrev announced they were engaged on Instagram. “RIP boyfriend, hello fiancé,” she wrote alongside photos of the special night and her sparkly new diamond ring.
Fans noticed that leading up to their breakup announcement, Dobrev had actually unpinned her engagement post on Instagram.
