Professional wrestling icon Hulk Hogan was laid to rest in August at the age of 71. However, one member of his immediate family, who we watched Hogan raise on reality TV, was left out of his will.
Hogan’s daughter Brooke says she removed herself from Hulk’s $5 million will to avoid confrontations with her mother, Linda Hogan, and her father’s third wife, Sky Daily. So, she wasn’t “surprised” that her brother, Nick, was named executor of Hulk’s estate, and that she received nothing.
“It’s what I asked for, I stand by it with no regrets,” Brooke told ‘TMZ‘ on Thursday before elaborating. “My dad knows I’m a hard worker and I have been surviving without his money for a long, long time.”
Hogan and Brooke, 37, have been at odds since audio that was part of a leaked sex tape lawsuit against Gawker Media captured Hogan using racial slurs and making offensive remarks about Brooke’s dating life.
The comments, which came in 2007 and surfaced in 2015, led to Hogan’s termination from the WWE and removal from its Hall of Fame. Hogan publicly apologized, stating his remarks were “unacceptable” and “not who I am.”
Up until 2018, Hogan, real name Terry Bollea, was a folk hero, particularly during his rise to wrestling stardom in the 1980s. His persona as a “Real American” resonated deeply with audiences.
Hogan embodied a particular vision of American strength and the spirit of the time. He was a larger-than-life figure who seemed invincible in the ring, consistently overcoming the “bad guys” to the delight of his fans.
The WWE reinstated Hogan into the Hall of Fame in 2018, citing his apologies and actions addressing his racist comments that went viral. However, his return was met with mixed reactions.
Hogan was booed during his final WWE appearance at Raw’s Netflix debut in Inglewood, Calif. in January. According to Hogan’s longtime wrestling manager and close friend Jimmy Hart, the jeers shook the proud wrestling icon.
“That devastated him,” Hart revealed on Stories with Brisco and Bradshaw, last month.
Brooke did not attend Hulk’s funeral, but she honored her father separately, from a different location, per her social media post.
