So Dua Lipa didn’t only ruffle the charts, she actually rattled her entire entourage. The pop icon recently dumped her longtime manager, David Levy, after discovering he was the mastermind behind a letter begging Glastonbury Festival to remove pro-Palestinian rap outfit Kneecap from the roster. Yikes, imagine trying to get singers to shut up and getting caught?.
As described in The Daily Mail, the name at the end of the “private and confidential” email asking Michael Eavis (festival founder) to scrap Kneecap due to their purported connections with Hezbollah was Levy. Spoiler alert: the email was leaked, Dua learned, and she was like nah, you’re done.
An insider revealed: “Dua ensured through her representatives that David Levy was no longer producing her music. She is extremely vocal pro-Palestine, and this doesn’t sit well with David.”
Dua Lipa Does Not Mind Taking A Side
This is not surprising if you’ve been paying attention to Dua for, like, two seconds. The Kosovan-born diva has been extremely vocal for Palestine. She called out what she termed “Israeli genocide” in Gaza last year on her Instagram in front of her 88 million followers. She’s also been spotted at rallies condemning the UK’s complicity in Gaza.
So yeah, it figures that she wasn’t going to let her rep actively be against all of the things she’s been advocating. She’s still at WME (William Morris Endeavor), but now she’s got a new agent who, you know, more closely matches her energy.
The Whole Kneecap Debacle
Meanwhile, Kneecap still hit the Glastonbury stage this summer, and people definitely had feelings. Police got complaints, investigated, and then dropped it because there was literally no evidence of any crime. The group clapped back, calling it “political policing intimidation.”
Of further relevance: Kneecap member Mo Chara himself is charged for reportedly waving a Hezbollah flag at a gig last year. His case isn’t decided yet. The uproar only guaranteed the group’s appearance was televised more, though, and Glastonbury stood its ground.
Dua Balances Advocacy and Understanding
Although she’s completely pro-Palestine, though, Dua’s equally been straightforward; she doesn’t condone Hamas either. She’s stated she’s sorry for each Israeli lost in the October 7 attacks. It’s giving nuance, empathy, and backbone simultaneously, literally.
Meanwhile, She’s Still Serving Pop Star Fantasy
Don’t worry, this drama isn’t stopping her at all. Dua’s Radical Optimism world tour is in full swing, and last night, she blew the roof off of Madison Square Garden. Fans went wild over “Don’t Start Now”, “Maria”, “Be the One”, and her Blondie cover of “One Way or Another” and a little love letter back at the city of New York.
It kicked off in Singapore last November and she’s scheduled till December 2025, and her destinations will be in Miami, Dallas, LA, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, Rio, Bogotá, and so on. She’s literally working and breaking records.
