Cameron Diaz has become a regular sight in New Jersey over the past few weeks.
She’s been filming the Netflix movie “Bad Day” with a series of co-stars in various towns and cities.
Last week, the movie’s second unit (not involving Diaz) shut down Route 133 in East Windsor for filming, which the production plans to do again this week.
Diaz filmed in Jersey City for several days last week as well as Perth Amboy on Thursday, having already filmed scenes in Plainfield and Bloomfield.
“Bad Day,” an action comedy, stars Diaz as Joy, a single mother who is having the worst day ever while trying to keep a promise to her daughter.

Jake Szymanski (“Jury Duty,” “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates”) is directing the film from writer Laura Solon (“Office Christmas Party”).
Diaz has been seen on set in Jersey with Szymanski and co-stars including Ben Schwartz (“Parks and Recreation,” “Sonic the Hedgehog”) and Rhenzy Feliz (“The Penguin”).
Last week, Diaz and Feliz filmed at a gas station in Jersey City.
On Oct. 9, Diaz filmed a scene in Perth Amboy where her character rushes into a bank.
The production has cast local Jersey extras for various scenes.
“Bad Day” marks Diaz’s continuing comeback after spending nearly a decade away from acting.
Her return started in January with “Back in Action,” another Netflix action comedy co-starring Jamie Foxx.
Before that, the most recent role for Diaz, 53, was in “Annie” (2014), also with Foxx.
Diaz married Benji Madden from the band Good Charlotte in 2015. They welcomed a daughter, Raddix, in 2019 and a son, Cardinal, in 2024.
Among her many film credits: “There’s Something About Mary,” “The Mask,“ “Being John Malkovich,” “Gangs of New York,“ “Charlie’s Angels,” “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “A Life Less Ordinary,“ “Shrek,” “The Holiday“ and “Bad Teacher.”
Besides Diaz, Feliz and Schwartz, the “Bad Day” cast includes Oscar and Emmy nominee Danielle Brooks(“The Color Purple,” “Orange is the New Black”); Emmy nominee Ed O’Neill (“Modern Family,” “Married… with Children”); John Higgins (Please Don’t Destroy on “Saturday Night Live”); Emma Pearson (“Gingerbread Kids”); and Jessica Belkin (“The Hunting Wives”).
“Bad Day” is one of many Netflix productions recently and currently filming in New Jersey ahead of the planned 2028 opening of the streamer’s studio facility at the former Fort Monmouth.
Filming is underway for the Jennifer Lopez Netflix thriller “The Last Mrs. Parrish,” based on the bestselling book, as well as the Olympic boxing movie “Fight for ’84″ starring Diaz’s former co-star Jamie Foxx.
Emmy winner Dan Levy’s series “Big Mistakes” has also been filming in Jersey with fellow Emmy winner Laurie Metcalf and Taylor Ortega (“Welcome to Flatch”), who grew up in East Windsor.
