Nicole Kidman stepped out in Los Angeles to open the Vogue World: Hollywood runway show following her split from Keith Urban, with a body language expert suggesting she appeared nervous.
The 58-year-old actress, who filed for divorce a day after news of their split was made public, walked the runway at the Paramount Pictures Studio lot in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Nicole looked incredible, wearing a sleeveless black gown adorned with satin camellias. She completed her look with a silver necklace and a pair of black high heels, while also opting for old school Hollywood glam makeup, with smokey eyeshadow and red lipstick.
While Nicole looked glamorous at the event, body language expert Judi James has suggested the actress appeared “tense” following her divorce.
Speaking exclusively to The Express US, she explained, “Nicole is styled in full Rita Hayworth/Marilyn Monroe mode here but the big difference in the body language signals is that Rita and Marilyn always appeared to be enjoying themselves enormously, showboating in front of the cameras while Nicole’s body language in these pics suggest she is not.”
Judi continued, “Instead of a flirty, earthy sexuality that would emerge as a non-verbal sensual ‘purring’ from Rita, Nicole’s underlying signals hint at some tension here and a little anxiety.
“Rita and Marilyn’s playful body language presentation always suggested warmed up cars with the engines running. Nicole looks elegant and stunningly beautiful of course but there’s a chilly hint that this homage might have taken some emotional effort so soon after her painful split from Keith.”
Concentrating on Nicole’s walk down the runway, the body language expert added, “The splay of her legs suggests she is striding quickly rather than milking the moment on the runway here. Her lips look very pursed in one pic but with a suggestion of tension rather than a pout.”
Judi suggested Nicole’s arms looked “a little rigid” as she walked, but said the “biggest tell” the actress was uncomfortable “seems to be from her fingers here.”
“They look rigid and splayed to the point where they curl up and over backwards,” the expert explained.
Nicole wasn’t the only celebrity walking the Vogue World: Hollywood runway show over the weekend.
Kendall Jenner took inspiration from Nicole, wearing the actress’ iconic Moulin Rouge costume. Kendall looked incredible dressed in a sparkling silver corset bodysuit with tasseled details.
The Kardashians star also wore a top hat and a pair of black and silver heels to complete her look.
Demi Lovato, Venus Williams and Miley Cyrus were also at the event. Dakota Johnson joined the A-list guests, following claims her ex-fiancé Chris Martin went on a date with Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner.
