Kelsea Ballerini unveils a new confession in her latest song: She has motherhood on her mind.
On Nov. 7, Ballerini released her newest song, “I Sit In Parks,” on all platforms. The lyrics tell the tale of her life, and has her musing about if she wasn’t a country music star, she might already have a family of her own.
To accompany the song is a music video of the singer on a park swing. On the swing, visuals of kids flash in her mind, only for it to end with a reality check — she was on a music video set and this isn’t real life.
“Dad brought the picnic/ Mom brought the sunscreen/ Two kids are laughing and crying on red swings,” Ballerini sings.
In the music video, Ballerini, 32, contemplates this dream while on a park swing, as thoughts of motherhood continue to run through her mind.
“Did I miss it?/ By now, is it/ A lucid dream?/ Is it my fault/ For chasing things a body clock/ Doesn’t wait for?,” she sings.
She sings about being on tour and what she wants, only to question if she’s on the right path.
“I did the damn tour/ It’s what I wanted, what I got/ I spun around and then I stopped/ And wonder if I missed the mark,” Ballerini sings.
After dreaming of being a mom, Ballerini sings about how a baby is due, but so is her album.
“Tarryn’s due in June, the album’s due in March,” Ballerini ends the ballad.
After Ballerini teased the song on Instagram, Reese Witherspoon and Keleigh Teller weren’t afraid to show their excitement.
“AHHHHHHH… it’s soooo good,” Witherspoon commented.
“Yes🌳 v exciting,” Teller wrote.
“I Sit In Parks” is one of six tracks that will be featured on Ballerini’s upcoming album, “Mount Pleasant,” coming Nov. 14. The other songs include: “People Pleaser,” “Emerald City,” “587,” “Revisionist,” and “Check on Your Friends.”
This is the first song the country music singer released after her split with “Outer Banks” star Chase Stokes. Ballerini and Stokes dated for about three years before their breakup on Sept. 14, a rep confirmed to TODAY.com. Neither Stokes or Ballerini have spoken publicly about their relationship’s end.
Ballerini remains traveling on her “Kelsea Ballerini LIVE ON TOUR,” with just a week away from the release of her next album.

Read the Lyrics to ‘I Sit In Parks’
I sit in parks, it breaks my heart
‘Cause I see just how far I am from the things that I want
Dad brought the picnic, Mom brought the sunscreen
Two kids are laughing and crying on red swings
We look about the same age
But we don’t have same Saturdays
Did I miss it? By now, is it
A lucid dream? Is it my fault
For chasing things a body clock
Doesn’t wait for? I did the damn tour
It’s what I wanted, what I got
I spun around and then I stopped
And wonder if I missed the mark
So I sit in parks, sunglasses dark
And I hit the vape, hallucinate a nursery with Noah’s Ark
They lay on a blanket and goddamit he loves her
I wonder if she wants my freedom like I wanna be a mother
But Rolling Stone says I’m on the right road
So I refill my Lexapro, thinkin’
Did I miss it? By now, is it
A lucid dream? Is it my fault
For chasing things a body clock
Doesn’t wait for? I did the damn tour
It’s what I wanted, what I got
I spun around and then I stopped
And wonder if I missed the mark
Mm-mm, mm-mm
So I sit in parks, checkin’ bench marks
Tarryn’s due in June, the album’s due in March
