YSU Volleyball, Basketball & Football
The Youngstown State University women’s volleyball team hosts Purdue Fort Wayne at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday in Zidian Family Arena at Beeghly Center.
The Penguins football team takes on Indiana State University at noon Saturday Stambaugh Stadium.
On Sunday, YSU women’s basketball tips off against Bucknell at 2 p.m. in Beeghly Center.
University Theatre: Be More Chill YSU’s University Theatre presents Be More Chill, a musical based on Ned Vizzini’s novel in Spotlight Theater, Bliss Hall, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at ysu.tix.com.
Yellow Brick Joel Yellow Brick Joel: A Face-to-Face Tribute of Elton John and Billy Joel takes the stage 8 p.m. Friday at Powers Auditorium. Little Mania Midget Wrestling All-Stars: World Tour Penguin City Brewing Co. hosts Little Mania Midget Wrestling All-Stars at 8 p.m. Friday. The 21+ event features Hulk Hogan’s original Little Mania wrestlers from MCW, as seen on TruTV.
Memories of Christmas Past The Mahoning Valley Historical Society opens the 17th annual Memories of Christmas Past exhibit Saturday at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave. The display, which runs through Dec. 31, transforms the historic home into a holiday wonderland filled with vintage décor, ornaments and toys. Museum hours are noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday, with extended hours on select dates. Admission includes same-day entry to Tyler History Center.
Ward Beecher Planetarium Shows The Ward Beecher Planetarium at YSU presents Legends: Perseus & Andromeda at 2 p.m. Saturday and We Are Stars at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Shows are free and open to the public.
Splatterfest 2025: Getting Messy for a Mission The HELMS Foundation hosts Splatterfest at Penguin City Brewing Co. on Saturday, with family-friendly activities from 2 to 5 p.m. and a 21+ session from 7 to 10 p.m. The event features paint splatter tents, hydro-dipping, glow art and more to support therapy programs.
Holiday Fun Day at The Butler The Butler Institute of American Art brings back Holiday Fun Day from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy free family activities, including cookie decorating, crafts, face painting, a Grinch movie screening and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra Returns The Trans-Siberian Orchestra brings The Ghosts of Christmas Eve tour to the Covelli Centre on Sunday, with performances at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.
