Yarnell is known for his work on Fox Searchlight’s “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” Released in 2018, the film starred Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant and was based on the memoir by Lee Israel. Yarnell optioned the book rights 20 years before the film was made, building a friendship with Israel that was instrumental to the film’s success. McCarthy and Grant both earned Oscar nominations for their performances.
Yarnell also produced and directed TNT’s “Joe Bob Briggs” for 11 years, earning an Emmy nomination for his work.
