Candace Owens turned against her MAGA allegiances as she said conservatives are “deluding themselves” over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show.
Candace, 36, took aim at those who found the Puerto Rican superstar’s performance at Super Bowl LX on Sunday, February 8, offensive, due to him performing solely in Spanish. Candace shared her opinion on the attitude towards what she called an “objectively successful” show from Bad Bunny on social media.
She shared on X, “Conservatives are now fully deluding themselves and paying influencers to invert reality. To what end? It’s like watching a bad rerun [of] Hiillary Clinton’s ‘too big to fail’ 2016 campaign.”
She then continued, “Reality: you lost the Super Bowl narrative. Bad Bunny had an objectively successful performance, whether you like it or not. More reality: the majority doesn’t agree with ICE shooting people in the face in Minnesota.“
Many have suggested that the right-wing Turning Point USA alternative halftime show that was headlined by Kid Rock was a bigger success. However, the official Nielsen ratings for Bad Bunny’s performance show it was the fourth most watched ever, amassing a peak of 128.2 million viewers.
This means he sits behind Kendrick Lamar with 133.5 million in 2025, Michael Jackson with 133.4 million in 1993, and Usher with 129.3 million in 2024. Bad Bunny sent a message to his critics during his show displaying a billboard that read, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”
Meanwhile on YouTube the video of Bad Bunny performing currently has 68 million views, while TPUSA’s alternative performance, had 6.1 million concurrent viewers on YouTube Sunday and has around 22 million currently.
Candace has already cast her doubt on whether the Turning Point viewing figures were real, saying that the 6 million concurrent viewers number was “made up” and “impossible.”
She said, “So Bad Bunny, objectively, whether you like him or not, he had a successful Super Bowl halftime performance in terms of the metrics. This means that the — I would say unnecessary — Super Bowl political lines that were drawn by Turning Point USA was not successful in terms of drawing people away from the NFL’s viewership.”
She also condemned the backlash to Bad Bunny performing and said she had never “ever been a conservative stereotype when it comes to the Super Bowl halftime performance.”
She continued, “I feel like it’s a bit of a fad now, on the right for you to watch the Super Bowl for the sole purpose of complaining about the halftime performance and why it didn’t live up to what you think that it should be.” While she did praise the production and performance by Bunny, she added that it being in Spanish meant the audience could not “emotionally connect to that performance.”
