Lily Collins to bring Audrey Hepburn back to life onscreen: ‘Honoured’

Lily Collins has thrilled fans with a major announcement, sparking a frenzy among them.

According to Deadline, the 35-year-old star is set to play Audrey Hepburn in a highly anticipated film about the making of the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

In addition to showcasing her acting talents, Collins will also serve as a producer on the project, which is based on Sam Wasson’s book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman.

Shortly after the announcement, the Emily in Paris star took to her Instagram handle to express her excitement about taking on the role.

“It’s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I’m finally able share this,” she wrote.

Collins added, “Honoured and ecstatic don’t begin to express how I feel…”

Originally published in 1958, Breakfast at Tiffany’s is a novella by Truman Capote about a struggling writer in 1940s New York who forms a bond with his intriguing neighbour, Holly Golightly, a socialite among the city’s elite.

The upcoming film will explore the off-screen drama surrounding the 1961 movie, notably Capote’s desire for Marilyn Monroe to portray Holly instead of Audrey Hepburn.

The project will also highlight behind-the-scenes challenges, including a frightening moment when a crew member nearly suffered electrocution while filming outside Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue.

Capote (writer), Edith Head (costume designer), and Blake Edwards (director) will be portrayed in the film, though the actors cast in those roles have not yet been revealed.

Who will write and direct the upcoming  making-of film?

Alena Smith, known for creating the Apple TV+ series Dickinson, will write the script. However, a director has not yet been announced.
