Documentary A Body To Live In opens today in NYC after opening last week in LA. The film follows Fakir Musafar, a trailblazer in the queer body modification scene, and the community that surrounds him. See where the film is playing here and watch the trailer below.
I’m Not Everything I Want To Be, the documentary highlighting queer photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková is available to stream on Metrograph at Home. The film shows a view of the queer culture in Prague in the 70s and 80s as well as diving into political themes of the era. Watch the film here. Documentary short The Roaming Center was chosen as Vimeo Staff Pick. From filmmaker Byrdie O’Connor, the film follows a digitizing service that preserves VHS’s from LGBTQ people in rural areas and shines a light on their queer history. Watch it below.
The first teaser was released for Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. The film follows a young director (Hannah Einbinder) trying to revamp a horror franchise, and the mysterious original star of the franchise (Gillian Anderson). The film also stars Zach Cherry, Sarah Sherman, and out stars Eva Victor, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Jack Haven. The film will be released on August 7 in theaters. In other film news, out actor Andrew Scott has been cast in upcoming Netflix film Walk the Blue Fields alongside Emily Blunt. The film follows a woman on her wedding day being confronted with a love triangle from her past.
Out Heated Rivalry creator Jacob Tierney will showrun upcoming Netflix show Alexander based on the novel The Golden Mean which follows Alexander the Great and his teen years, and will explore a forbidden love. Mike Flanagan’s The Exorcist film has expanded the cast with new members including out actors Sasha Calle and Kate Siegel. Out actress Tessa Thomspon has been cast in Next Door, an A24 series from Love Life creator Sam Boyd. The series will be released on Netflix.
The season two premiere date has been released for The Four Seasons. The show, which follows four couple friends, including gay couple Danny and Claude, will come to Netflix on May 28. ABC’s award-winning Abbott Elementary has been renewed for a sixth season on ABC, once again making it the first renewal of the season for the network
Out writer Kimberly Belflower has sold a YA drama to 20th Television. The show follows a teen girl in the rural south who navigates a scandal at her church and starts her first job at a waterpark. Out author Alana Bennett’s novel The Education of Kia Greer, will be adapted to TV by Fox Entertainment Studios alongside Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Unions’ production companies. The book follows a daughter of a famous family, thrown into a PR relationship.

Out mulit-hyphenates Lena Waithe and Cynthia Erivo have signed on to produce Cats: The Jellicle Ball on Broadway. The show reimagines the infamous musical talking place in queer ballroom culture. In more theater news, out actors Luke Macfarlane and Cooper Koch will star in the play The Little Dog Laughed, alongside Billy Porter. The play follows a movie star who strikes up a relationship with a male escort, and will be coming to Broadway after an invite only presentation.
