Chloe Fineman is facing backlash after admitting she was fired as a camp counselor after pulling a prank on a young boy
The story sparked chatter online, with critics questioning her decision to share the incident publicly
A detail about the camper’s age was allegedly removed from the interview’s final cut on Vanity Fair’s YouTube page as well
Chloe Fineman is facing criticism for a recent confession she made.
The Saturday Night Live star, 37, sat down with costars Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman, Ashley Padilla, Jane Wickline and James Austin Johnson for an interview with Vanity Fair published on March 31, where they played a game testing how well they know each other.
Fineman asked her castmates to guess what job she was fired from — and later rehired for — when she was 16. After they made several guesses, she revealed, “I was fired as a camp counselor.”
After Day jokingly asked if it was for “hitting on the campers,” she continued: “No, I pantsed a boy.” Her co-stars reacted with shocked faces.
“Because he would lift my shirt all the time,” she continued. “It was a different time. He’d be like, ‘Hey, could I have a hug?’ And then I’d go to hug him and he’d lift my shirt like a d—. And then I was like, ‘I’m gonna get back at you.’”
“So we were on a hike, and I was like, ‘Hey [name], go look over there, it’s a hawk,’” she continued. “And then I yanked his pants down, and then I was fired.”

The moment has since gone viral online, after people noticed several details — including that Fineman said the boy in question was “like 6” years old at the time — appeared to have allegedly been removed from the cut of the interview that was later posted on Vanity Fair’s YouTube page.
Under a clip of the original video shared to X, the comments filled with people weighing in on the debate.
“Anytime you gotta say, ‘it was a different time’ maybe stop,” one user wrote.
Another added: “can’t comprehend how any public figure in 2026 would share this story proudly and publicly, regardless of whether or not they personally think it’s an issue. HOW can you not foresee how people will react to this. baffling”
“This is such a disturbing thing to admit in a interview and omg the uncomfortable laughter among the cast mates I feel so bad for them,” commented someone else.
PEOPLE reached out to a representative for Fineman for comment.
