The Princess of Wales has said she channelled British stoicism to finish the Three Peaks Challenge in “atrocious” weather.
The Princess made the comments about the charitable challenge, in which she scaled Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours, in conversation with Tim Henman, the former tennis champion, during her recent trip to Wimbledon.
Discussing her experience of the Three Peaks Challenge, which she undertook on the last weekend of June, she said: “I did it in 24 hours, that was the challenge anyway.
“The weather was atrocious, I mean everybody got soaked through, but it was a very stoically British thing to do. You’re soaking wet and everyone’s going ‘come on, we can do it!’”
At the time, she was photographed beaming in the fog at the summit of Ben Nevis in Scotland, protected from the wind and rain by a hooded cagoule and a cap.
