Rocket City New Music has announced its fifth concert season, featuring four performances from September 2026 through May 2027 that will bring contemporary classical music to venues across Huntsville.
Now entering its fifth year, the Huntsville-based organization continues its mission of introducing audiences to living composers and nationally recognized performers while presenting concerts in distinctive locations throughout the city.
The season opens with “Sound Bites” on Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. The performance marks Rocket City New Music’s debut at the arts campus and will feature percussion music performed by Andrea Venet, Marcelina Suchocka, Waichi Champion, composer Chris P. Thompson and members of the Rocket City New Music staff.
Guests are invited to attend a cocktail-style pre-show before the 7:30 p.m. performance.
The season continues with “In Plain Sight” on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at The Electric Belle at Stovehouse. Additional details about the program will be announced closer to the performance.
The season concludes on Saturday, May 1, 2027, with a finale at Avilution, an event venue inside Huntsville International Airport. Organizers said the airport setting reflects the organization’s commitment to presenting contemporary classical music in unexpected spaces. Program details for the finale will be announced next year.
“Five years in, Rocket City New Music is bringing extraordinary artists to remarkable spaces across Huntsville,” said Sean Ritenauer, founder and executive director of Rocket City New Music. “This season’s first collaboration with Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment is something we’ve designed to celebrate not just the music, but the campus and the artists who call it home. I can’t imagine a better way to begin our fifth season.”

Founded by Ritenauer and Dr. Hojoon Kim, Rocket City New Music presents concerts and community events showcasing contemporary classical music throughout North Alabama while working to build an accessible and engaged arts community in Huntsville.
