A brand new music festival is headed to one of Los Angeles’s most iconic landmarks.

The Santa Monica City Council has approved a festival at the site of the Santa Monica Pier. The move is a part of their city realignment plan to reinvigorate the beach, pier, and downtown areas ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup in 2026 and the L.A. Olympics in 2028.

The beachfront music festival is set to debut in the fall of 2026 on the sand next to the pier.

According to the press release, the current concept envisions “a single-day event with an estimated capacity of 30,000 to 35,000 attendees. Programming would include 12 to 15 musical artists, curated food and beverage offerings, festival and artist merchandise, art installations, partnership activations, and guest services such as restrooms, lockers, and water stations.”

“The next few years are a defining opportunity to showcase Santa Monica at its best, from our beach and Pier to the heart of our downtown along our iconic coastline,” said Santa Monica Mayor Caroline Torosis. “This is exactly what our Realignment Plan was designed to do. We are ushering in Santa Monica’s Renaissance by delivering results, revitalizing our core, and setting the city up for its next chapter. Our best days are ahead.”

The city hopes the festival will drive business to Santa Monica hotels, restaurants, and shops. The festival will be put on by Goldenvoice, the same organizers of Coachella in Indio, California.

“Partnering with the city of Santa Monica to bring a yearly music festival to the Pier is a true honor for us,” said Goldenvoice COO Melissa Ormond. “We can’t wait to bring world-class music and artists to one of the most beautiful urban locations in the state.”

The festival is already approved to return in the fall of 2027 and 2028. A name for the festival has not yet been announced.

Other events headed to Santa Monica as a part of the plan include The Michelob ULTRA Pitchside Club, an ESPN fan festival, Club France, and the Santa Monica Nations Village and broadcast center.
