The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are finally here. Over the years, the award show has acted as a venue for some wildly memorable celebrity fashion, including Lady Gaga’s meat dress, Pamela Anderson’s fuzzy pink hat, and Lil’ Kim’s seashell-covered, boob-baring jumpsuit. Stars know that this is one of the least formal red carpets in the celebrity calendar, which means each year, we can expect plenty of dramatic red carpet moments.
This year’s nominees have a long history of turning looks. Gaga leads the pack with 12 nods, followed closely by Bruno Mars with 11. Close behind them are Kendrick Lamar, Sabrina Carpenter, Rosé, Ariana Grande, and the Weeknd, and there’s no doubt that if any of these stars appear on the carpet, they’ll be bringing their fashion A-game.
LL Cool J is acting as host this year, with Katseye set to do a pre-show performance, while the main show will feature numbers from the likes of Gaga, Carpenter, Doja Cat, Conan Gray, Tate McRae, and more. Meanwhile, Mariah Carey will be honored with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award, which she will commemorate with a medley of her hits. Then, Busta Rhymes will receive the Rock the Bells Visionary award, while Ricky Martin will be recognized with the Latin Icon prize. Suffice it to say, there will be lots to take in.
