As well as being moved out of Royal Lodge in Windsor into a farmhouse on the Sandringham Estate, Andrew has also lost the use of his royal titles. In February, the former prince was also arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office, for which he is currently under investigation.
Andrew has always denied wrongdoing and the accusations against him regarding his previous association with Epstein, and one royal author now claims that the former prince feels misunderstood.
In updated material from the paperback edition of Entitled by Andrew Lownie, it has been claimed that Andrew told a member of his staff: “It’s been very hard to deal with. ‘he hardest thing was how it affected my family and put so much burden on them.
“For that, I’m sorry beyond words, and unfortunately, will have to bear that regret for the rest of my life.”
Andrew then called the events of the last few months the “most distressing experience”.
He was reported to have said: “I’ve been completely misunderstood, and I’m hopeful that one day the naked truth will finally let out. I won’t lie to you, this has been the most distressing experience of my life.”
It is believed that he has not had much contact with his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, or his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, with whom he used to live at Royal Lodge.
Royal author Andrew Lownie said in his new book that Andrew has been finding solace by playing video games, including Call of Duty, from the sanctuary of his new home.
