Antiques Roadshow enthusiasts were left “emotional” as a beloved BBC personality shared an update following their terminal cancer diagnosis.
Theo Burrell, who discovered she had a brain tumor in 2022 after experiencing severe migraines in 2021, has posted a heartfelt update on Instagram.
The Antiques Roadshow favorite, hailing from East Lothian in Scotland, was told she would only have three months to live without surgery for the Glioblastoma three years ago.
The brave mother then underwent surgery, followed by grueling rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy – with her most recent scan in July showing stability. However, despite the promising scan results, Glioblastoma remains incurable, with no significant advancements in treatments for two decades, according to the Express.
Patients with Theo’s diagnosis typically have a life expectancy of 12 to 18 months, reports the Mirror.
Yet, on Monday (September 1), Theo took to social media to post a beautiful picture of pink and blue flowers on her story, adding an update in bold letters across the photo.
She wrote: “Against all the odds, today marks the fourth birthday I’ve celebrated since [my] diagnosis. Don’t let anyone underestimate you!”.
This message comes just weeks after Theo posted a touching update about her son, Jonah, starting school.
Alongside a picture of her husband and son holding hands, the caption read: “Last week I marked one of my biggest milestones to date – because my son, Jonah, started school!”.
“When I was diagnosed with a GBM in June 2022, Jonah was 19 months old, and he was still a tiny little boy who could barely speak. Over the last 3 years, I’ve watched him grow up to become a huge chatterbox and a very keen dancer, with endless energy and a great sense of humor!”.
“I definitely did not think that I would get to see him start school and I’ve cried many times at the thought that I would miss this occasion. But here I am! And I’m extremely grateful.”
Theo, a supporter for the Brain Tumor Research, shared her appreciation to the charity earlier this summer, stating: “Thank you to people who give me hope.
“We are all in this together. There is real strength in the community, and I really could not have got through the last years without having friends by my side.”
