Ariana Grande is getting backup from one of her Wicked co-stars, who didn’t hold back as she blasted a fan who lunged at the star during the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good.
Grande, 32, was rushed by a 26-year-old man named Johnson Wen on the red carpet, who sprinted toward her and grabbed the actress. Footage from the incident shows her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly pulling her to safety.
Wen was subsequently detained and charged by Singapore authorities with being a public nuisance after creating the “alarming” and “unsettling” scene.
Now, speaking out on social media, Grande’s other co-star, Marissa Bode, 25, has addressed the incident, condemning Wen for his actions.
In a TikTok video, the actress, who plays Nessarose Thropp in the films, not only dismissed reports calling him a “fan” of the movie or Grande, but also revealed he made her feel unsafe.
“‘But they’re a fan!’ Okay. Then they’re a fan and a loser,” Bode declared in one video, responding to social media users who defended Wen, who also operates under the name Pyjama Man online and is notorious for his public harassment of celebrities, including jumping on stage at concerts and other events.
Bode had previously addressed concerns about “parasociality, especially at things like concerts or just when someone in the public eye is at an event, like people throwing s–t on stage mid-performance,’ something she reminded her followers of in the video, before further tasking aim at Wen.”
“This is what I mean when I say social media brings out the worst in people,” she expressed.
“Oh, did you get your views? Did you get your likes? Guess what you also did? You made somebody feel incredibly unsafe, but just–no remorse,” she continued. “That goes over your head. You’re a bad person.”

Bode also voiced that the idea that any woman in a similar situation should be expected to “move with grace or respond with kindness when they’ve been violated in that way” was absurd and those who expected it were “weirdos.”
However, she conceded that women in the public eye often did “respond with kindness” because they are aware of the backlash they’ll face if they don’t.
In a follow-up video, Bode elaborated on her thoughts, stating that those who were outspoken and criticized for it were the ones who were correct, and that fans who felt they should quietly tolerate such situations were, in fact, not fans at all.
“These are people, they are not products, they do not owe you their entire personhood. And to be frank, if you don’t agree with that, you are not a fan,” she declared. “[You are[ someone who’s entitled that desperately needs to be brought back down to Earth.”
Grande is currently embarking on a promotional tour for various world premieres and events to promote the second installment of the hit film franchise.
