You can’t keep a strong woman down. As the hands-down stand-out queen of Zach Cregger’s massive horror hit “Weapons,” star Amy Madigan has been the subject of some serious chatter in recent weeks. Not only does she deliver, ahem, eye-catching thrills and skin-crawling chills as the witchy villain in the genre smash, her performance has also inspired some early awards chatter.
And while film fans and cinephiles alike love to tout genre performances for Oscar love, it tends to be a tough row to hoe with the Academy folks. Still, Madigan is absolutely deserving of awards attention, but all that talk about just how damn good she is in the film might engender something else: a whole prequel, just for her.
