Visit Atlantic City struck a deal with Live Nation on Feb. 13. More concerts will come to the coastal city. More shows too. The push wants to draw tourists and cement the city’s spot as a prime East Coast venue for live acts.

This collaboration will pull performers to several spots: Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, plus beach settings. Visit Atlantic City wants beach concerts back.

“Live entertainment has always been a cornerstone of the Atlantic City experience,” said Gary Musich, president and CEO of Visit Atlantic City, according to Down Beach. “With the help of Live Nation and collaboration with our partners, we’ll be able to attract a wide array of world-class performers, energize our tourism economy, and continue delivering experiences that resonate with visitors year-round.”

Musich pointed to the city’s prime location. Philadelphia sits close by. So do New York City, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. That geography makes it a smart pick for concerts, he said, and the aim is keeping things buzzing all year.

Boardwalk Hall has packed in crowds at recent shows. Stevie Nicks performed there. So did The Who, Lil Wayne, and Mary J. Blige.

“Whether it be live events at Boardwalk Hall, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, or even right on the beach, we’ve had tremendous success delivering unparalleled experiences in Atlantic City over the years,” said Molly Warren, senior vice president of Booking at Live Nation. “We’re excited to partner with Visit Atlantic City to bring more great shows and unforgettable moments that give people new reasons to visit and enjoy the region.”

Eric Scheffler runs the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority as executive director, and he thanked the CRDA board for backing this collaboration. The deal builds a structure for luring talent while generating financial payoffs, Scheffler explained.

The alliance should pump up hotel bookings, restaurant visits, and shopping. Details about what’s coming will roll out over the next weeks and months.
