Music icon Barry Manilow has shared a significant update about his tour dates, less than a month after undergoing surgery for a lung cancer diagnosis.
The 82-year-old “Can’t Smile Without You” singer revealed his illness in a heartfelt statement posted on social media on Monday, December 22, confirming that doctors had found a cancerous spot on his left lung that required part of it to be removed.
Consequently, some of his upcoming concerts were postponed amid his health issues. However, the star has now added some extra dates to his tour schedule, signaling that he is well on his way to recovery. Yet, he also hinted that these could be his final shows, much to the disappointment of fans. It comes after Manilow shared a selfie from his hospital bed after announcing his lung cancer diagnosis.
In a post on his official social media an image announcing six new US dates was posted. Alongside it was penned: “Barry is feeling great… so great that he’s decided to add six additional concerts to his existing March schedule.
“Barry will now visit Charlotte, Norfolk, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Lexington this March! The Fan Club Pre-Sale begins Tuesday, January 13, at 10am PT. Years from now, when you look back on these dates, you’ll want to know you were there to say goodbye,” the message concluded, reports the Express.
Fans quickly voiced their concerns following the announcement, expressing their worries for the star in the comments section. “Isn’t it too soon for Barry? He just had surgery and I think he needs time to fully recover.. Oh well.. Wishing Barry all the best,” one wrote.
“I’m worried that you’re already doing shows so soon after your surgery. I couldn’t care less that your fans in the United States (I live in Argentina) hate me for telling you to prioritise your health,” another added.
A third chimed in: “Absolutely crazy. Barry’s just had surgery, how is this amazing news? It’s unbelievable and absolutely crazy.”
A fourth penned: “Come on, Barry, this is crazy. You’re real fans are so worried about you doing this.”

On January 3, the star provided a significant health update from his hospital bed. Posting a photo to Instagram while wearing a green hospital gown, he smiled at the camera and reassured fans, “Better today!”
