Daveigh Chase, the former child actress best known for her roles in “Lilo & Stitch” and “The Ring,” has died. She was 35.
Chase’s boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, told TMZ the actress died Tuesday from meningitis and an infection in her blood.
This comes after Chase was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital earlier this month because of malnutrition, the outlet reported.
Just the other day, Hernandez created a GoFundMe to help “give her that sense of home and peace in her final days.”
“Her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left,” Hernandez wrote on the campaign page.
“All she ever wanted was a place where we could live together, feel safe, and be happy. Now, more than ever, I want to give her that sense of home and peace in her final days,” he continued. “I understand we all go through things, but if you can help, I will be really grateful for anything. And if you can only give a prayer, I will take that too. Thank you for considering helping us during this difficult time.”
Chase was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 24, 1990 and raised in the small town of Albany, Oregon, according to IMDb. At 8 years old, Chase booked the part of Lilo in Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” and later appearing as Samara Morgan in “The Ring.” From 2006 to 2011, Chase played Rhonda Volmer in the HBO series “Big Love.”
Her other notable credits include “Spirited Away” (2001), “Donnie Darko” (2001), “A.I. Artificial Intelligence” (2001), “Oliver Beene” (2003), “S. Darko“ (2009) and ”Jack Goes Home“ (2016). Chase‘s final film was 2016’s “American Romance. Afterward, the actress went on a hiatus from acting after several brushes with the law, according to Screen Rant.
