Brad Pitt accuses Angelina Jolie of ‘misdirection’ in court – Celebrity News – Entertainment

Brad Pitt has accused Angelina Jolie of “persistent misdirection” in their ongoing court battle over their formerly shared winery.

The ex-couple, who split in 2016 after a 12-year relationship, have been embroiled in a legal dispute over the French winery since Jolie sold her stake in Miraval in 2021. Now, the F1 actor has filed documents requesting a judge to dismiss her demand for $33,000 and compel his former spouse to release several private emails she has previously declined to provide.

Pitt is eager to review correspondence between Jolie and her business manager, Terry Bird, her British publicists, Chloe Dalton and Arminka Helic, as well as two financial consultants.

According to documents obtained by Us Weekly magazine, the 61 year old star pointed out that in her own declaration, Jolie stated it was “her routine practice to engage in lengthy conversations with her non-attorney business manager Terry Bird about ‘essentially all aspects of [her] business and professional life’ including discussion about ‘legal advice and proposed strategy’ at issue.'”

He further noted, “What Jolie is describing here are brainstorming sessions between non-lawyers. The fact that these brainstorming sessions may have followed or preceded advice from a lawyer on the same general topic or a related topic does not shield them from [being turned over].”

Brad contended that the Maria actress “has categorically withheld such communications, including the entirety of all but one of Bird’s internal communications discussing the terms of the sale of her interest in Chateau Miraval to the [third party] – the key transaction at issue in this litigation.”

Regarding the emails to her publicists, Brad stated no attorneys were included, and Angelina has failed to clarify why the help of “British image consultants was reasonably necessary to receive legal advice regarding the sale of the French home and winery she owned.”

Following over three years of legal proceedings, he maintains there are numerous missing emails and Angelina has “still produced only one internal email that even mentions the terms of the sale at the center of this case.”

The Moneyball star alleged his former wife had objected to him requesting she voluntarily surrender the messages for judicial review.

He stated: “It is odd that Jolie has declined to do so, given that it would presumably be the easiest way to meet her burden to show that she has redacted only privileged legal advice.”

Angelina has previously contended Brad sought to access emails discussing legal matters with others and she wasn’t required to surrender them.

She also demanded he be penalized by the court and pay her $33,000 to cover the legal expenses involved in resisting the email request. Her lawyer said: “Mr. Pitt’s reply brief does not address our arguments and continues to rely on conjecture and speculation – all for the purpose of invading her privileged communications with her lawyers. This once again confirms that this lawsuit is the manifestation of Mr. Pitt’s years-long effort to harass and control Angelina. We look forward to the upcoming hearing.”

The Mr. and Mrs. Smith co-stars – who wed in 2014 – ultimately finalized their divorce in December 2024 but remain locked in a bitter battle over Chateau Miraval.

Following Angelina’s decision to sell her portion to Tenute del Mondo, the wine arm of the Stoli Group, Brad launched legal action in February 2022 claiming she had completed the transaction despite their mutual understanding that neither would proceed without the other’s consent.

The Maleficent star hit back with her own lawsuit in September of that year, contending the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor had been “waging a vindictive war against” her since she filed for divorce.
