Channel 5 has announced three “revealing” new documentaries about the Royal Family.
The broadcaster has commissioned the trio of films from Krempelwood and Fremantle’s Naked label exploring a variety of topics around the royals.
In a statement, Nicola Lloyd – Creative Director of Naked (a Fremantle label) and Executive Producer – said: “We’re delighted to be producing three new royal documentaries for 5.
“The Royal Family has long captivated audiences not just in the UK but across the globe, and these films explore their stories in a way that’s both revealing and richly entertaining.”
This Saturday (17.01.26), Channel 5 will air Fergie And The Fake Sheikh Scandal, centred on allegations made against Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York.
The infamous sting operation – which was headed by Mazher Mahmood posing as the Fake Sheikh – saw Ferguson accused of offering access to the former Prince Andrew for £500,000.
Another documentary, Camilla: Of The People For The People, will explore the Queen’s ascent from “the most hated woman in Britain” to the throne as “one of the most relatable and trusted figures in the modern monarchy”.
The documentary will delve into the “human story behind the headlines”, her relationship with King Charles, and the way she has helped redefine the royals.
The third project being lined up is called Elizabeth and Philip: A Royal Fairytale, and will delve into the love story between late monarchs Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip.
The couple were together for 73 years, and their relationship was an anchor for the British monarchy over the years.
All three documentaries will air on Channel 5, and will feature a combination of archive footage, candid testimony, and insights from various historians, journalists and biographers.
