Country star Lee Brice dedicates song to Charlie Kirk as fans divided – Celebrity News – Entertainment

Country music star Lee Brice has left fans divided after he dedicated his new song to murdered activist Charlie Kirk.

The singer took to the stage in Clearwater, Florida, on Thursday (September 11) just one day after Kirk was gunned down during an appearance at Utah Valley University.

The horrifying scene played out in front of a huge crowd with viral video footage spreading worldwide to show everyone the moment the bullet struck and fatally wounded him.

Since then, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out the attack.

An outpouring of grief has come from many over the assassination, but many others – including TV hosts – have expressed a lack of empathy due to Kirk’s often polarizing opinions on many topics, including abortion, trans-rights, and gun laws.

Kirk was a devout Christian, and his faith helped many feel connected with him – including Brice, who dedicated his rarely performed track When Kingdom Comes to Kirk in an emotional display at the live show.

Brice told Breitbart News, “Charlie’s passing deeply affected me and the whole band, and we knew we wanted to honor him. It was the best way to honor what Charlie held closest to his heart — his faith and his relationship with Jesus Christ.”

In this exclusive video, Brice explains to the packed house, “Usually we do a couple of other songs, but tonight I’d like to play a song and dedicate it to Charlie Kirk and what he so adamantly stood for. I don’t want to see a picture of this country without God in it.”

Brice shared that he had written When Kingdom Comes with his wife. Following his emotional performance, the audience erupted into cheers, with one attendee heard shouting, “Thank you, brother.”

Seeing the clip of the pending video for the track shared online, fans were divided as some praised the move.

However, not everyone echoed the positive sentiment. As one user noted, “Kirk’s influence is overrated. The mass majority disapprove.”

Another scathed, “What about all the little innocent SCHOOL GIRLS AND BOYS that all far too often are shot and killed by white gun lovers in America!?…any chance of paying them similar respect!??”

A third social media user pointed out, “Far-Right MAGA condemns violence while instantly calling for violence against opponents, using Kirk’s death as a weapon.”
