While Courteney Cox and David Arquette split up more than a decade ago, they’re still close. In fact, some casting news just put it all in perspective for fans! While Arquette and Cox have worked together for decades on the Scream movies, something rather unexpected has popped up.
In details obtained by Deadline, we can see that instead of co-starring again, Cox cast his older sister, Patricia Arquette, in her new film. Cox is set to direct a true crime flick called Evil Genius, which is about the true crime story of the infamous “pizza bomber” case. She has cast Patricia to star in it, alongside David Harbour.

So, it’s clear the family is still as close as ever!
Actors Courteney Cox and David Arquette arrive at the world premiere of The Weinstein Company’s “Scre4m” presented by AXE Shower at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre on April 11, 2011 in Hollywood, California.
For those who don’t know, the Shining Vale actress and David met at a pre-party prior to filming the first Scream film. They didn’t date til years later, and kept it very hush-hush. In fact, fans were blindsided when it was announced they got engaged while vacationing on an East Coast beach in 1998. They married a year later at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco.
They welcomed a daughter named Coco on June 13, 2004.
Sadly, the pair separated in 2010, but Cox didn’t officially file for divorce until 2012; despite both of them trying to work it out and support each other publicly.
However, it wasn’t bitter. A couple of months later, on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she said, “He’s my best friend in the world. I love him.”
Since then, David has remarried to Christina McLarty. Since their wedding in 2015, they’ve welcomed two kids. As for Cox, she’s been with musician Johnny McDaid since 2013.
