The Price Is Right host Drew Carey blasted reality TV star-turned-mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt in a pointed social media post, calling him unfit to lead Los Angeles ahead of the June 2 primary.
In a Threads post shared May 22, the 68-year-old comedian and TV personality criticized Pratt as his campaign gained traction. Carey, a former U.S. Marine, did not hold back.

“Anyone who votes for, or endorses Spencer Prattfall for Mayor of LA needs to get their head out of their ass,” Carey wrote. “I understand being angry/unsatisfied, but at least get behind someone competent and not some serial scammer without a soul or moral compass. F*** this guy already.”
Why is Pratt running?
Pratt rose to fame on The Hills and lost his home in the 2025 Palisades wildfire. A registered Republican, he launched his mayoral campaign during a rally marking the one-year anniversary of the fire.
Speaking on Fox & Friends, Pratt said he never planned to enter politics but felt compelled to run after losing his home alongside wife Heidi Montag. He accused city leadership of “criminal negligence.”
“I never wanted to be mayor… but once you uncover everything I have, these people in charge should have resigned,” Pratt said.

Since entering the race, Pratt has become a vocal critic of incumbent Mayor Karen Bass. During an appearance on Andy Bachman‘s “Creators Think,”podcast, he alleged, “They’re corrupt because they’ll then fail you, they’ll let people burn alive and then they will actively cover it up with charity money.”
He also claimed, “Mayor Karen Bass, after the Palisades burned down, 12 people burned alive, she worked with The Lede Company, which is a celebrity crisis PR firm, to alter the after action report regarding the failures of the Palisades fire.” Bass’ team has rejected those claims.
Donald Trump and Erika Kirk backs Pratt
Pratt’s campaign has attracted support from conservative figures. President Donald Trump praised him when asked by reporters.
“I’d like to see him do well,” Trump said. “He’s a character. I assume he probably supports me. I heard he does. I heard he’s a big MAGA person. He’s doing well.”
Erika Kirk also endorsed Pratt on X.
“Regardless of the outcome of Spencer Pratt’s race, what he’s doing is authentically American,” she wrote. “See a problem, become a part of the solution. His campaign ads are unconventional, but that’s the point; it’s refreshing. Instead of speaking like a career politician, he’s speaking as an American who sees and deeply understands how fragile the simple things in life are when leadership fails.”
Other celebrities push back
Carey is not the only celebrity criticizing Pratt’s campaign. Chelsea Handler also urged fans not to support the former reality star.
Handler posted a video on Instagram on May 15, expressing concern over Pratt’s candidacy.
“If you’re seeing this video, this is a reminder that a straight, white male, former reality star that has no previous experience in government should not be a legitimate political candidate,” she said. “Have we learned anything yet?”
The video included images of both Pratt and President Trump, drawing an implicit comparison between the two.
