Ellen DeGeneres is currently facing a lawsuit.
The former talk show host, 67, was recently sued for a car accident that took place on October 16, 2023, in Santa Barbara County, California, per court documents obtained by People last week.
A woman alleged in court docs that the comedian — who moved to the UK with wife Portia de Rossi a year later — “entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign,” which resulted in her car being “t-boned” by DeGeneres.
The lawsuit states that the Emmy Award winner displayed “negligent conduct [that] fell below the standard of care of a reasonable person,” adding that DeGeneres “negligently caused, or contributed to causing plaintiff’s vehicle to be collided with by the defendants’ vehicle.”

The woman also claims she suffered “multiple serious personal injuries and damages” as well as “loss of enjoyment of life, emotional distress and anxiety.”
DeGeneres — who faced accusations that her eponymous talk show was a toxic workplace — has been facing criticism once again, as a former cameraman who worked on her hit talk show told the Daily Mail in August that she was “terrifying” when the cameras stopped rolling.
Additionally, last week, Rosie O’Donnell recalled on a podcast how DeGeneres claimed they weren’t friends on Larry King Live in 2004. O’Donnell, 63, described that as “one of the most painful things” she dealt with as she “knew her for 30 years.”
It seems DeGeneres is unfazed by the onslaught of recent claims made against her: As National Enquirer previously reported, the Ellen alum has been sharing throwback clips from The Ellen DeGeneres Show on social media.
