There’s some additional news about Keith Urban that’s hitting the internet — and many fans are straight up mad about it.
On the heels of a major divorce announcement, a video from a recent Urban concert is circulating online. During the set, Urban changed the lyrics to the song “Fighter,” which was inspired by Urban’s soon-to-be ex-wife, Nicole Kidman.
A video of the lyric change was shared by Urban’s utility player, Maggie Baugh, 25, on both Instagram and TikTok — the latter of which has a total of 1.6 million views.
“When they’re tryna get to you, baby I’ll be the fighter,” the original lyrics read. However, at the recent show, Urban sang “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player,” referring to Baugh. Her caption on social media is, “did he just say that?” along with the eyes emoji.
Fans didn’t hold back in the comments of Baugh’s social media posts, many voicing disgust with Urban, who changed the lyrics before his split from Kidman was made public.
“It is so trashy to do this to a song inspired by his wife. It’s the ultimate ick,” one person wrote.
“Nicole. For him to do that that tells us what he’s really all about. That’s just disgusting. Nicole deserves much better. This is the second time he’s cheated on her maybe third,” someone else said.
“Nicole deserves better,” a third comment read.
“Gonna get my comment in before they turn it off: Keith, I saw you about 2 yrs ago. If you left Nicole for this, you’re crazy and will regret it for the rest of your life. Not seeing you again,” a fourth Instagram user added.
“I am no longer a Keith Urban fan. Everything and what he stood for is a lie. He should be ashamed of himself. Poor daughters,” echoed another (former) fan.
Just one day after Urban and Kidman’s split was reported, People magazine confirmed that Kidman filed for divorce in Nashville. The former pair tied the knot in June 2006 and have two daughters together — Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.
Neither Kidman nor Urban have spoken out about their split.
