Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale may be hitting the big screen soon, but you do have some time to catch up on the drama before then.
After six seasons of television and three feature films, the long-running period drama is coming to an end after 15 years, with The Grand Finale set to focus on the Crawley family for one last time.
If you want to refresh your mind or simply get caught up before watching the conclusion to the franchise, then you’re in luck, as the first two films in the trilogy are currently available to stream in the UK.
The first film, released in 2019, is available on Disney+, meaning you will need a subscription to that service. Its 2022 sequel, Downton Abbey: A New Era, is streaming on ITVX, which is free of charge.
Both movies can be acquired from Amazon too, with a current deal meaning the first can be rented digitally for £1.99 instead of £3.49. It can also be bought for £4.99 (down from £7.99). A New Era can only be purchased, however, for its current price of £4.99.

The Grand Finale is due to hit cinemas on Friday (12 September). Digital Spy recently caught up with the cast ahead of its launch, with several actors teasing that the ending would be “really moving”.
“It’s what the audience wants as well, and that’s very much, I think, what [writer] Julian [Fellowes has] done because it’s the last one. He’s tied up all the loose ends,” said Robert James-Collier, who plays Thomas Barrow.
“Everyone’s happy at Downton Abbey… That’s what the audience wants because the whole thing’s a bit of escapism. The world’s in turmoil at the minute, so just to have something nice and easy to watch, everyone gets a nice happy ending.”

“It’s really moving,” added Laura Carmichael, who portrays Edith Pelham. “We were so aware with this film that it’s saying goodbye. I certainly felt that there was a bit of pressure with this one. It had to be fitting to say goodbye.
“Julian produced an incredible script… It had to be bigger and better and satisfying to fans of the show, and also fun to anyone who hasn’t seen Downton. It’s true escapism, a real adventure for the family and leaves them all in a really great place.”
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is in cinemas on 12 September.
