HGTV’s Page Turner began grief therapy weeks after her mom’s death, saying she lacked the tools to cope with such a significant loss
In a recent episode of her Between Us podcast, Turner reflected on her life’s challenges, including being a single mom of three by 23 with no child support
She shared how therapy helped her process grief, past pain, and healing, calling it a transformative journey
Page Turner is getting candid about her grief journey almost one year after her mother’s death.
The HGTV star, 53, opened up about the difficult topic during a recent episode of her podcast Between Us, which she hosts with her boyfriend Mike Hill. In a clip of the episode shared to Instagram on Saturday, May 2, Turner reflected on how all the hardships she’s faced in her life were nothing compared to how she felt after the death of her mom, Patricia Turner.
“My mom died June of 2025. I’ve carried the weight of being a single mom with no child support,” she began, before adding, “it was just me and my mom and my sister really, you know, raising these kids.”
“It wasn’t until she died, when I was like, I’ve had to hustle: light bills, car notes, I’ve given cars back. You know what I’m saying? I’ve done all this stuff, but I don’t know how to do this. I don’t know how to let my mama die,” she continued
To work through the intense grief she was feeling, Turner said she had to start therapy almost “immediately” after her mom died.
“I knew I had to get into grief therapy immediately. I think I started within a month, maybe even two or three weeks,” she added. “Like, I’m not going to be able to do this.”
In the caption of the post, the Love It or List It co-host shared even more insight into her grief journey, and how some of the hardships she’s faced began when her dad died when she was just eight years old.
“I’ve done hard things my whole life. Starting with when my dad died at 8,” she wrote. “Single mom of 3 by 23.. Zero child support of any kind. Entrepreneur for 26 years. Built a career that put me on TV at 44. All by faith.”
The designer continued, “But nothing, I mean NOTHING prepared me for losing my mom. I lost my breath AND my anchor.”

Turner noted how she’s normally able to navigate the hardships that life throws at her head on, but “for the first time ever, I couldn’t see straight, and I didn’t have a strategy” she admitted. “I knew immediately, that I didn’t have the tools for the waves of grief that I was already going through.”
During her therapy sessions, she writes she was able to explore not only her grief, but also, “My PATTERNS. My pain. My healing AND what I have avoided for years,” adding, “It all became the thing that started setting me free. And in a weird way, along my therapy journey, I can say: Thank you, Mommy.”
At the time of her mom’s death at age 85, Turner shared a touching tribute on Instagram, noting that she was by her mom’s side when she took her last breath.
After thanking her children for being there for her and their grandma during such a hard time, Turner then recalled a funny moment she shared with her mom while watching an episode of Love It or List.
“The last episode of Love It or List It my Mom saw a few weeks ago, she said ‘Honey, you’re saying “Gonna” too much,’ and I said, ‘ok ok Ma, I’ll watch that’ – I know what to say, goING not gonna, ING like in KING,” she wrote, with a crying laughing emoji.

She concluded the touching caption: “Rest well Mama, you gave us your ALL & I don’t quite know what we’re gonna do without you … But I bet you’re already telling a host of angels ‘It’s ING ING like in KING!’ Love you forever Ma.”
Turner officially joined David Visentin as co-host on Love It or List It in 2025, after longtime co-host Hilary Farr announced she was leaving the show in 2023 following 19 seasons. In August, HGTV announced the series would be returning for another season in 2026.
