Mariah Carey has a new vision of love.

After years of performing together with her and ex-husband Nick Cannon‘s daughter Monroe “Roe” Cannon at her concerts, the pop legend is encouraging the 14-year-old to pursue her own musical dreams.

“My daughter’s into music,” Mariah told Jimmy Fallon on the Sept. 29 episode of The Tonight Show. “She used to sing with me on my Christmas tour, but I don’t know if she’s doing it this year. I’m trying to get her to do her own thing. I think she wants to, so possibly.”

While Roe appears to be on the path to following in her mom’s footsteps, her twin brother, Moroccan “Roc” Cannon is on his own path.

“My son is very obsessed with streaming and gaming,” Mariah, who detailed her cameos on his live streams, explained, “and all the things.”

Still, Roc has also showcased his own musical talents over the years, including joining his sister and their mom on the “Vision of Love” singer’s Christmas tour in December 2024, where he played the drums while they sang Christmas carols.

More from E! Online

“He and Roe are both such creative geniuses!” Mariah gushed to E! News in 2022. “Honestly, their tone when they sing is so beautiful, and I’m so thankful that they inherited that from me.”

Beyond their favorite activities, the Grammy winner has also shared insight into raising the twins with Cannon—with whom she split in 2014 after six years of marriage—and her parenting style.

“Am I mean? No,” Mariah told E! News in August 2024. “Am I lenient? Probably. Because I don’t want to be that person that’s like the bleak one in the crowd and they don’t want to be around me or something.”

Still, she’s grateful for who they’ve turned out to be so far—expressing gratitude that she’s not raising little versions of her young self.

“I don’t think that they’re bad or evil in any way like I was,” she joked. “They’re really good kids and they’re very smart and they’re funny—and, you know, I’m the mommy.”

Beyond admitting she wasn’t the easiest kid to raise, Mariah has shared plenty of insight into her life over the years. Keep reading to learn more…
