Pawn Stars boss Rick Harrison has recently suffered several family tragedies, but he has much to be thankful for, including his family and the success of his reality TV show.
The 60-year-old reality TV star was first thrust into the public eye in 2009 when his Las Vegas pawn shop became the subject of the hit History Channel show.
Over the last year, Harrison has dealt with some devastating losses. His son, Adam, who was one of Rick’s three sons, passed away at 39 from accidental fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity in January 2024.
Most recently, Harrison’s mother, Joanne Harrison, died at the age of 85 on Wednesday, November 5.
Despite all the heartbreak, though, Harrison tries to focus on thinking “about the good times” and his other children and grandchildren to “keep on moving on.” He also has a lot to look forward to, including his upcoming nuptials to fiancée Angie Polushkin.
Rick Harrison’s mother, Joanne Harrison, passed away at the age of 85 on Wednesday, November 5.
Harrison’s rep, Laura Herlovich, confirmed the tragic news to TMZ on Thursday, November 6, noting that “Rick is handling things privately.” Joanne died in a Las Vegas hospital.
Harrison has now lost both of his parents, as his father, Richard Harrison, passed in 2018 from Parkinson’s disease.

Rick Harrison also suffered tragedy last year when his son, Adam Harrison, died of an accidental overdose.
Adam passed away at 39 from accidental fentanyl and methamphetamine toxicity on January 19, 2024, according to the Las Vegas coroner.
Shortly after the news broke, Rick confirmed the news to TMZ in a statement, which read, “Yes, I can confirm Adam died from a fentanyl overdose.”
“The fentanyl crisis in this country must be taken more seriously. It seems it is just flowing over the borders and nothing is being done about it. We must do better,” he added.
At the time, the reality star took to Instagram to share a tribute to Adam, penning, “You will always be in my heart! I love you Adam.”
Harrison also opened up about grieving his son during a March appearance on the In Depth with Graham Bessinger podcast (per NBC News) in March. “I think about him every day,” Rick admitted.
The pawn shop owner went on, “In his 20s, he had the drug problems, I mean, I put him in rehab so many times, and every time he’d do great and then fall back; you’ll hear the same story from a million people.
“It got really, really bad, and apparently it wasn’t heroin; he got some fentanyl, and it killed him.”
Harrison admitted to second-guessing everything after having lost a child. “Could I have done something different?” he asked. “I think I did everything right, but you just sit in your head, ‘What if I did this? What if I did this?’ … There is nothing worse than losing a kid.”
Harrison added that as a parent, you “never see the OD coming” and there’s no “instruction book with kids.”
Harrison said he tries to focus on thinking “about the good times” to “keep on moving on.” He added, “Appreciate what you got, because you’re not always going to have it.”
