Katherine Jenkins has revealed that Tom Cruise mistook her for a member of the Royal Family while performing at the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee concert.
The Welsh singer, 45, recalled the embarrassing moment the actor, was ‘body-slammed against a wall’ by military personnel backstage.
Katherine explained how her gigantic Cinderella-style gown left little room in the tight corridors, making for a very tight squeeze when she came off stage.
Taking to the stage in Sandringham Royal Parkland in June 2022, she wore a bardot red gown with a puff design and form fitting waist.
Recalling the event, she said: ‘As I was getting ready to go out on stage, Tom was walking off, being escorted on either side by military personnel. Because I do so much with the military, they knew me.
‘They both bowed their heads and said “good evening ma’am” at which point, because there wasn’t space, one of them pushed Tom out of my way and almost body-slammed him against the wall.’

Katherine added in an interview with The Telegraph: ‘After the performance, when we did meet, he gave me a very strange handshake/nod/bow thing. Maybe he’d got confused and thought I was a royal?’
The mezzo-soprano performed hits from throughout her career at the Platinum Jubilee concert with a symphony orchestra and special guest the Military Wives Choirs.
Before taking to the stage, Katherine admitted she was nervous, saying: ‘Singing for her means you really need to bring out your best performance.
‘It doesn’t matter how many times I perform for her or meet her, whether it’s in front of thousands or just at a small dinner, I will never be blasé about it. It’s a huge honour and lovely to be asked.’
The musician took to her Instagram page before the event, writing: ‘What a huge honour to sing here at Sandringham on this historic weekend.
‘Tonight was the stuff of dreams – an incredible audience all united in love & celebration for Her Majesty! I will remember this as long as I live. Thank you for having me.’
Elsewhere, Katherine recently joined classical music radio station Magic Classical for a special tribute to legendary tenor Luciano Pavarotti, marking what would have been his 90th birthday.
Partnering with Decca Classics, the station celebrated the release of Novanta – a 74-track album featuring iconic duets and previously unreleased material from the opera great.
