Kevin Bacon has reacted to recording legend and Footloose soundtrack icon Bonnie Tyler’s death on his birthday.
After news broke Thursday of the 75-year-old Welsh singer’s death, the actor tells Entertainment Weekly in a statement that Tyler, who sang “Holding Out for a Hero” for the 1984 film’s soundtrack, was “one of the great voices of rock.”

He continues, “I could not imagine chicken racing a tractor to any other song. RIP.”

Tyler died July 8 — Bacon’s 68th birthday — in Portugal, months after she was placed into an induced coma following intestinal surgery. She awoke from the coma in June but remained in intensive care.
Besides the Footloose single, Tyler is best known for her 1983 signature hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart.”
