King Charles has reportedly offered Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children royal accommodation during a planned family visit to the U.K. next month.
The offer comes as Harry and Meghan are expected to bring Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, back to the U.K. for the first time since 2022.
The Independent reported that the Sussex family has been offered royal accommodation for the visit, which is expected to coincide with events marking one year until the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
The Family Has Been Offered a Royal Place to Stay
The Sun reported that Harry and Meghan are expected to stay in a royal residence if the visit goes ahead with the children.
Harry and Meghan were asked to vacate Frogmore Cottage in 2023, leaving them without the Windsor residence they had previously used during visits from California.
The Independent reported that Charles’ offer is being viewed as a possible sign of a thaw between father and son, but the practical arrangements remain tied to security and scheduling.
The Visit Could Bring Archie and Lilibet Back After Four Years
The Guardian reported that Harry and Meghan plan to bring Archie and Lilibet to the U.K. for the first time since Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
The planned July trip is expected to include Harry’s appearance at events connected to the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham. Sky News also reported that the family visit is tied to the Invictus countdown.
The Guardian reported that Harry is also expected to take part in engagements connected to his remaining patronages during the trip.
A return by Archie and Lilibet would give Charles a rare chance to see his youngest grandchildren in person. No meeting has been formally announced.
The Security Issue Still Sits Over the Trip
Harry lost automatic taxpayer-funded police protection after stepping back from royal duties in 2020. The Guardian reported that he lost his legal challenge over the decision, though he has since received a full risk assessment and is awaiting a final security decision from the Royal and VIP Executive Committee.
The Sun reported that Meghan’s travel with the children depends on security being assured. The outlet also reported that security arrangements remain separate from Charles personally and are handled through the relevant U.K. security process.
A Reunion With Charles Is Possible, but Not Confirmed
Page Six reported that royal experts believe Charles would be willing to see Meghan if a family meeting happens, but any reunion would likely be private.
The Guardian reported that Harry is eager for his children to reconnect with their grandfather. The same report noted that any meeting with Prince William remains uncertain.
The public facts are narrower than the speculation: the family is expected in the U.K. next month, royal accommodation has reportedly been offered, and no formal palace schedule has been released.
