Longtime “American Idol” judge and Baton Rouge native Randy Jackson will return to the ABC singing competition’s “Class of 2006: Reunion” episode at 7 p.m. Monday.
Episodes of the series, now in its 24th season, also stream next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
Jackson, 69, served as a judge on “Idol’s” first 12 seasons (2002-2013), bringing extensive music expertise along with signature catchphrases like “Dawg,” “We Got A Hot One Tonight” and “In It To Win It.” He and fellow original judge Paula Abdul, a part of the judges’ panel for the show’s first eight seasons, will mentor this season’s top five contestants. Abdul will join current judges Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan at the judges’ table for the two-hour broadcast.

It’s been over a decade since Jackson, who most recently was bandleader for five seasons of “Name That Tune” on Fox, has appeared on “Idol.” Jackson, also a record producer and musician, was a bass player for the bands Journey, Stryper, Divinyls and Breakfast Club. He’s also worked with Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion.
Monday night’s episode also will include an “American Idol” – “Dancing With the Stars” mashup in which pros from the network’s dance competition series will dance along with the finalists’ performances.
America will vote live to determine the top three hopefuls, who will compete for the “American Idol” title on the Monday, May 11, finale.
