Lupita Nyong’o channeled her “The Odyssey” character Helen of Troy at Tuesday night’s New York City premiere of the film. But while her Nicholas Oakwell Couture gilded gown certainly evoked the power of the film’s character, Nyong’o’s clutch also paid homage to the Christopher Nolan adaptation.

Nyong’o carried the “The Odyssey” purse by Paris-based brand Olympia Le-Tan, a piece gilded in gold, light blue and navy tones with white modeled to look like a copy of Homer’s famous Greek mythological story.
The illustration of the Olympia Le-Tan design was created by artist Jenny Zemanek. The design featured hand-embroidered silk thread and felt appliqué with a stainless steal frame. The interior of the clutch was further embellished with blue florals against a white backdrop.

Cotton, wool, stainless steal and silk thread were used to create the final piece. Without the strap, the clutch retails for $1,402. With the strap the purse is $1,598. The book clutch is a popular design from the French brand and extends far beyond Zemanek’s “The Odyssey” creation.
Along with a variation on Homer’s epic Greek poem, Olympia Le-Tan features other book clutch designs like Truman Capote’s “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” Jane Austen’s “Mansfield Park” and “Le Petit Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.

Founded in 2009 by Olympia Le-Tan and Gregory Bernard, the Parisian fashion and accessories house takes inspiration from art and culture to craft the label’s various offerings. Along with Nyong’o, celebrities like Meryl Streep, Katy Perry and Millie Bobby Brown have carried the brand’s clutches.
Aside from the clutch, Nyong’o accessorized her New York City premiere attire with gold metallic heels by Aldo and jewelry pieces courtesy of Sabyasachi, further accentuating the gold color scheme of her attire. The Oscar-winning actress’ look was curated by stylist Micaela Erlanger.
