Will ‘Sinners’ shock at the Oscars? Our Academy Awards picks
USA TODAY film critic Brian Truitt reveals his 2026 Academy Awards predictions, including the best actress, actor and picture categories.
Michael B. Jordan is suited and booted on the 2026 Academy Awards red carpet.
The actor opted for a less traditional look, ditching a bow tie on Sunday night, March 15, wearing an all-black ensemble.
“Sinners” garnered a whopping 16 nominations at this year’s ceremony, and among them is Jordan’s nod for best actor for his role as the Smokestack twins in Ryan Coogler’s vampire horror film.
He is up against Timothée Chalamet (“Marty Supreme”), Leonardo DiCaprio (“One Battle After Another”), Ethan Hawke (“Blue Moon”), and Wagner Moura (“The Secret Agent”). Jordan, 39, spoke to USA TODAY in January shortly after the nominations were announced.
“Honestly, I’m still processing all of that stuff, man,” Jordan said at the time. The nominations feel “really great because I know how much everybody poured into this movie every day. For something so specific to be loved so universally is great.”
