The Cinema Series continues at the 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center with screenings of the heartwarming, “The Last Rodeo,” on Saturday, June 28, and Tuesday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m. The Tuesday night screening will be shown with captions visible on the screen.

A retired rodeo legend (Neal McDonough) risks it all to save his grandson. Facing his own painful past and the fears of his family, he enters a high-stakes bull-riding competition as the oldest contestant ever. Along the way, he reconciles old wounds with his estranged daughter, and proves that true courage is found in the fight for family.

New York Movie Guru calls the film “genuinely heartwarming, wise and inspirational.” Film Focus Online calls it “a true cowboy-drama film that wears its heart on its flannel sleeve and asks tough questions about what it means to be a man, a father, and a legacy.” The New York Amsterdam News calls it “a testament to the strength found in vulnerability and the enduring bonds of family.” Rated PG for language, violence, and thematic elements, “The Last Rodeo” runs one hour, 58 minutes.

Tickets are available at the door for $7 (adults), $6.50 (seniors & Opera House members) and $5 (students) the night of each screening. The Opera House is equipped with assistive listening headsets for the hearing-impaired. Simply request one from any usher or staff member. The Opera House Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Lake Shore Savings Bank.

The 1891 Fredonia Opera House Performing Arts Center is a member-supported not-for-profit performing arts center with a mission to “present the performing arts for the benefit of our community and region … providing access to artistic diversity … and high-quality programming at an affordable price.” It is located in Village Hall in downtown Fredonia.
