Whether Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson’s relationship was the real deal or not remains up for debate — but according to a source, the truth lies somewhere in between.
As Star previously reported, TMZ published a story on August 29 stating that The Naked Gun costars’ flirty connection was nothing more than promo for the film, while People published a story claiming otherwise.
With Anderson, 58, and Neeson, 73, raising eyebrows for possibly resorting to using love as a PR stunt, a source tells Star they’re “under huge pressure from their PR teams to step out hand-in-hand and silence the doubters.”
However, neither the Taken actor or Baywatch alum “want to play that game as they’re convinced it could backfire and turn things into a bona fide saga.”
Still, the source notes that there’s no denying that “they’ve slowed way down since the movie promo tour,” with Neeson “doing his thing right now while Pam takes a breather and enjoys some solo down time.”
Pointing to “a lot of talk that she moved a little too fast for Liam,” the source notes that Neeson — who was married to Natasha Richardson for 15 years before her 2009 death — “wasn’t ready for anything serious.”
In fact, the source believes Anderson, who was previously married five times (including twice to Rick Salomon), was all in. “She’d never fake her feelings for someone, especially at this stage of her life,” the source explains.
Though it remains to be seen how the two will play their hand in this showmance drama, it’s likely they’ll make moves to confirm — or debunk — the rumors soon enough.
