Peek inside John Goodman’s New Orleans mansion for sale

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — One of New Orleans’ most famous residents, actor John Goodman and his wife, are selling their Garden District mansion.

There’s a pending sale, but before the new owner comes in, WGNO’s Kenny Lopez gives you a look inside.

TV and movie star John Goodman and his family have lived in their Garden District mansion on the corner of Second and Coliseum Streets for 20 years, but now it’s time for them to move on.

“They loved it and I think they’d love to see it go to somebody that’s going to enjoy it as much as they have,” said Hyatt Hood, Principal Broker with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Preferred Realtors.

Hood said that the 4,950 square foot home was initially listed for sale for $5.5 million, but now there’s a pending sale.

“We ended up lowering the price to $4,750,000, which is the current asking price,” Hood said.

“This home is lovely and it’s iconic. There’s not much else like it. It has Greek Italianite architecture style and was built in the 1850s, so it’s 175 years old, but in great condition,” Hood said.

The mansion has four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a study, a huge walk-in-closet, a swimming pool and more.

“One of my favorite rooms is the dining room. The dining room has hand-painted floors, and you can see the beautiful crown molding and the beautiful fireplace,” Hood said.

For decades, John Goodman spent time in our homes on our television sets on the hit ABC shows, “Roseanne,” and “The Conners,” so it’s neat to see inside his home.

“They are really going to miss this house. They lived a substantial part of their lives here, but they’ll continue to maintain a home in New Orleans,” Hood said.

Here’s something that you may not know, but before this was The Goodman’s family home, this mansion was home to rocker Trent Reznor from the band the Nine Inch Nails.
