The Polaris Festival is coming back to Toronto this September, and organizers have revealed the first four events. The month-long celebration of Canadian music returns after welcoming more than 11,000 participants to 22 events in its debut year in 2025.
This year’s edition expands further, with more than 20 concerts, listening experiences, conversations, workshops, and artist development initiatives planned, featuring Polaris nominees, winners, and alumni from across Canada.
The first announced event, “Dreaming With Caribou,” takes place September 29 at 7pm. Created by artist and musician Joshua Ingleby, the listening session combines a light installation and spatial sound performance built around Caribou’s 2008 Polaris-winning album ‘Andorra.’
On September 16, “Collective Study: K-os’ Joyful Rebellion” brings a free salon to The Palmerston Theatre in Toronto, exploring K-os’ Slaight Family Polaris Heritage Prize-winning album ‘Joyful Rebellion’ and its role in Black Canadian musical identity.
September 19 brings Aquakultre’s community listening party in collaboration with Half A Concert. Led by the Halifax-based singer-songwriter also known as Lance Sampson, the free event explores Black Canadian music, memory, and cultural continuity.
Rounding out the first wave is the Polaris Festival Northern Sound Exchange on September 4 at Knox Hall in Sudbury, bringing the Festival north to support artist discovery and industry dialogue beyond Toronto.
The Festival is organized around four programming streams: Listen, Gather, Illuminate, and Amplify, each designed to explore Canadian music as art through performance, conversation, and community connection. The full schedule and ticket information will be available at polarismusicprize.ca.
