Prince Harry was seen quickly leaving from Meghan Markle’s appearance at a weekend retreat during the pair’s trip to Sydney, Australia.
Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, visited Australia for four days last week. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made several public appearances, including at a hospital and a women’s shelter, and took private meetings. Meghan also headlined a “girls weekend” retreat with the podcast “Her Best Life,” hosted by Gemma O’Neill.
In a video captured by Liliana Sanelli, an entrepreneur and attendee of the retreat, Harry can be seen standing up before shaking hands with a man. He then turned and exited the room. “Oh yes Harry was in the room & they are definitely beautiful as a couple and in love. So divine,” wrote Sanelli, 49, in the caption of her Instagram post.
“Hearing Meghan speak so openly, authentically and be so real – has given me another perspective of powerful, insightful strong women when they are truly real to themselves,” she wrote. Sanelli commended Meghan’s “kind, caring engaging energy” and credited her with “keeping it real.”
Regular tickets for the Her Best Life retreat, held at the InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach, cost AUD$2,699 while VIP tickets came in at AUD$3,199. The VIP package offered the chance to sit in the front row during the Q&A session, a goodie bag and a group photo with Meghan.
“I know she is really looking forward to it and she can’t wait to be in a room with our community and great women, and she was just like, ‘let’s just have a real chat. Let’s just woman-to-woman, let’s go for it,’” divulged O’Neill ahead of the retreat.
Meghan was reportedly paid $150,000 for her appearance. However, the Duchess stayed at the event for only two hours, sparking backlash from attendees and fans who argued that she should have had conversations with the women in attendance. Roughly 300 women attended the retreat.
A representative for Meghan offered an explanatory statement for her relatively brief appearance.
“Meghan was always confirmed only to attend the retreat for her Q&A portion of the weekend. She had a lovely time sitting down and talking to Gemma in front of such an engaging audience,” the rep told HELLO.
