Prince William has spoken openly about Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis, admitting he felt “overwhelmed” by the news.

The Prince of Wales has appeared on the latest episode of the AppleTV+ documentary The Reluctant Traveler, where he told host Eugene Levy he was taken to “not great places” when both his wife and father, King Charles, were diagnosed with cancer.

Following the candid confessions, PR expert Ryan McCormick spoke to The Express US about how William might be feeling. It comes as William also opened up about the late Queen Elizabeth in the program.

McCormick told us, “To have both your father and wife diagnosed with cancer in the same year must be unimaginable.

“By speaking openly on a platform like The Reluctant Traveler, William is using a moment to process his grief. The Prince reasserted his connection with the public by revealing that he too experiences anguish and fear of losing loved ones.

William isn’t the only member of the royal family to open up about his personal life.

The Prince of Wales’ estranged brother Prince Harry has previously revealed family secrets on Netflix, in a memoir and while speaking to Oprah Winfrey.

However, McCormick doesn’t believe William’s decision to speak out has been influenced by Harry. He explained, “I don’t think that his decision to open up was a result of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

“However, I think that the behavior of both has likely caused William to take his position a lot more seriously. For every controversy they’ve created around the royal family, I imagine the Prince was seeking an initiative or action to counterbalance that.”
